Well, for starters, if you want to work on punching faster....I would suggest shadow boxing....I usually do 1 hour every morning and 1 hour every night....it makes ur hands pretty fast....for grappling, grapple with guys bigger and stronger than you....if you can take these guys down and submit them, you can beat ur own weight class.....also grapple with more experienced grapplers....try to get all ur grappling matches on video and study them so you can find out what you did wrong in which position....those tips should help you step up your game a little better ^_^

Nick, according to your profile you are 15. As you are still in High-School join your high school wrestling team. Wrestle for a while and that base will aid you in MMA. It will also be better for your bank balance as some MMA schools are pretty expensive.
Good luck

Make sure that you train and learn from a club or gym that caters to you..many clubs just have you being used as a punch bag or grapple dummy although some people foolishly think this helps it don't. make sure that your trainers actually teach you the technique properly so you can actually apply it in a fight it makes a big difference ..
Like Austin said if you want fast hands then you should shadow box a lot, Basically throwing punches makes you faster because your body can move in the sequence of a punch more naturally but if you really want to increase speed try using a resistance band (if you have one) or strap weight s on to you wrist. I f you conduct a proper weight training regime it can increase your explosiveness and speed
Make sure that you foot work is learned to the best of your abilities as you would learn that it helps a great deal when evading and attacking
When your training work on technique doing combinations then work on light sparring and becoming comfurtable in the ring or octagon..Fitness is a most when ocmpeteing but it can be easily developed skill should be ( But do not neglect physical conditioning) no1
Do not over train...make sure you rest
Make sure yu eat the right foods. as a fighter you will need to be fuld for the hard training
watch fighters fights on youtube or were ever you can that your style mimics this would give you a better in sight into the mentality of fighting

Nick, I forgot to mention Judo as well, Judo is great for MMA takedowns and submissions. I'd advise you to do Judo or Wrestling or both for the next 2 or 3 years and then when you have a bit more cash with a full or part time job you can take up MMA and have a brilliant base and you will progress really quickly. Danger 90 also gives some good advice.Martial Arts is a journey of self-improvement, from defeat you learn victory and you learn how to respect yourself and others around you. Competitive training will give you the will to win and improve yourself drastically.
Good luck
