From what i've seen, it looks well done. I've only seen it on TV so i'm not sure how the fighters are treated or exactly how the points are scored.... but go for it!

Jaime what team are you with? Where will you be fighting?

I just attended a WCL event in San Antonio, TX. It's all action packed. It is definitely continuous fighting-3 minutes.

3 judges score each fight, each judge scores 5 pts. to the superior fighter and 4 or less to the opponent. Judges points are combined at the end of each fight for example: 5-4, 5-3, 5-4 is then 15-11. These points are added to the team points. If a penalty is given, the opposing team gets the point. The team with the most points at the end wins.

Judges are looking for knockdowns, how much damage is inflicted, and the number of strikes (punching, hooks, etc...)

The techniques that are allowed are punching skills, kicking skills and this includes kicks to the leg, knee strikes to the body and head.

Scoring is as follows: 15-12 very close round, 15-9 clear win, 15-6 or less, means the win was with one or more knockdowns and 15-0 means a knockout or disqualification.

If you get knockedout, a chair is put in the middle of the fight area and they sit you there until you come to.

I'm fighting for the Texas team, and the event is in Tulsa Oklahoma. I'm an alternate, so I think someone has to get KO'd or hurt and then I get a shot!

No offense, and congratulations on getting a spot on a team, but I am not a big fan of the WCL. I still watch it from time to time, though.

It's basically point fighting, and as such, they have a lot of people in the league who just aren't fighters. The matches look like demonstrations half the time and most of the fighters lose technique in order to get as many points as possible before the end of the match. There are some legit guys, like Pete Spratt and a couple others, but I've seen people throw outright crap strikes and get the win. That's probably my biggest gripe about point fighting.

What the WCL did right is give Cecil Peoples a place where he can ref and actually do a good job. -ken

Oh cool! It would be cool to see you fight! And I would think your chance of getting in is not too bad for the WCL. I've seen some wicked kicks and punches that have knocked fighters down.

Yes, it's point fighting but it's nonstop action! That's what I like about it. And while it may not have takedowns or grappling, I enjoy watching it. Go for it! When does the new season start? I'm a bit behind in news.
